Technical Skills

1- The first technical skill was cutting. This was used to cut the strawberries for the strawberry syrup, as well as cutting the lemons for the lemonade. In order to cut the lemons, we first rolled them, and then cut them in half with a knife. To cut the strawberries, we made sure to cut the leaves as close to the top as possible as to not waste any strawberry.

2- The next skill is washing all of the fruit. We had to do this to ensure that they were safe and clean. This also make's sure that chemicals, etc are taken off the fresh fruit.

2- The second skill is cooking the syrup. To do this we had to boil sugar and water in a pan, and then mix in the triturated strawberries. We had to make sure that it didn't burn, as well as making sure it didn't grow too much, so that it doesn't leak out of the pan. A difficulty that we faced is that we were not paying close attention to it, so it spilled out of the pan and got stuck to our furnace, which was a problem. The next time we made it, we paid close attention and constantly mixed it, thus it did not spill.

3- The next skill was mixing the lemonade with the right proportions. This took a few trials to get the right proportions. We started by following the recipe that we had found but since the lemons that we bought were small, we needed to add more lemon juice. We also ended up having to add more sugar because it was not sweet enough.

4- The next skill was using CAD to make the logo. We used an online website called "canva". First, we put the blue circle, then layered the brown on top and drew the palm tree, the sun and lastly, added the letters. :

5- The next skill was painting in order to create the following poster. To make this, we traced the letters and palm tree lightly in pen. We then painted the whole thing in light pink and let it dry. After it dried, We painted a gradient on the letters using a darker shade of pink, and painted on the palm tree using brown and green. Lastly, we went around the letters using a black sharpie to make them pop:

6-Another technical skill we used was using word to make advertisement posters. To make the posters, we used word to put the pictures and the text together. A difficulty that we found was finding the right amount of information to put without overwhelming people with too much text.:

7- The last skill was preparing the granizada. It required us to break off the ice, put it in a cup, and put the right proportions of syrup on top. The first time, we didn't break the ice enough, so it was difficult to chip it away. The next time, we broke the ice more, so it was a lot easier to serve it.

The technical skills that we used and were able to further develop were indeed successful as we were able to accomplish our goal, making lemonade and granizadas. This is taking into consideration that we had a couple of complications at first with for example the boiling of the syrup and the lemon juice. However, as we overcame some of the difficulties, we also learnt from our mistakes and were able to avoid them the next time we attempted to make these drinks.
